In the year 1955, the loving couple who would become Elder James and Mother Virginia Andrews was baptized in Richmond, Virginia.
Eight years later, in 1963, Elder James Andrews along with Mother Virginia Andrews established Narroway Church on Center St in the Fulton area of the east end of Richmond, VA. The founding scripture being Matthew 7:14 "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
Narroway was founded as a place to save souls; a place for people who love God could come to praise and worship him; a place where the lost and the hurt could seek refuge; a place where you could come and find the word of God.
Narroway was a pillar in every community that it was a part of. Some of the locations were Broad St., 25th and Jefferson, Ruffin Rd., and a few other places in Richmond, VA. For a time Elder Andrews pastored a church in Emporia, VA while simultaneously holding church in Richmond. However in the early 1980's, Narroway was moved to its current location at 1315 Stockton Street. Narroway turned this former horse stable and tire shop into a place of worship. Our house is a place where God does dwell.
Elder James and Mother Virginia Andrews labored not only spiritually but also physically for the betterment of this house. They even poured the concrete in part of this very building literally-building the current foundation of Narroway True Holiness Church.
Since the passing of Elder James Andrews in 1998, his grandson, Elder Oscar Tyson, Jr. has been standing on the wall for the Lord! He with his wife 1st Lady Maureen Tyson by his side continues to build on the foundation. Souls are still being saved, prayers are still being answered, praise and worship is still going up, and the word of God is still being preached. Coming into Narroway, you can feel love of God and the move of the Holy Ghost.
We are in new era with the same values and the same God is still blessing the Narroway True Holiness Church.
